Safeguarding & Community Protection Policy

KCG Trust holds an absolute, non-negotiable commitment to ensuring that all children, women, elderly individuals, and vulnerable participants engaged in our programs are protected from any form of harm, exploitation, harassment, or abuse.

Our Core Safeguarding Principles

Every individual participating in a KCG Trust initiative has the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and unconditional safety. Our policies are aligned with Indian statutory laws including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH) Act, and international child protection standards.

1. Child Protection & POCSO Compliance

KCG Trust implements zero tolerance for any physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse or neglect of minors. All staff, field coordinators, volunteer educators, and visiting professionals must strictly adhere to the following rules:

  • No Unsupervised Solo Contact: No volunteer or staff member is permitted to be alone with a child in a closed or secluded space during learning sessions or camps.
  • Safe Learning Spaces: All children's learning pods and camps must operate in visible, open communal venues with multiple adults present.
  • Mandatory Police / Identity Verifications: All recurring educational volunteers and staff undergo government identity verification and background vetting prior to field deployment.

2. Women's Safety & Anti-Harassment (POSH)

In compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, KCG Trust provides a safe, equitable environment for female beneficiaries, community self-help members, staff, and volunteers.

Any unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature is strictly prohibited. An Internal Committee (IC) reviews complaints promptly with complete confidentiality and non-retaliation protections.

3. Protection of Elderly & Vulnerable Adults

Rural elderly residents and individuals with disabilities often experience heightened vulnerability to neglect and financial or emotional exploitation. Field teams must treat all senior community members with patience and absolute respect, ensuring voluntary consent before any medical check or intervention.

4. Dignity in Photography & Informed Consent

KCG Trust firmly rejects exploitative or sensationalized imagery of poverty. All photographic and audio-visual documentation must comply with the following ethical standards:

  • Explicit Informed Consent: Verbal or written consent must be obtained from subjects or legal guardians before photographs are taken.
  • Protection of Minors: No images of children in distressed states, without proper attire, or identifying sensitive personal addresses are published.
  • Privacy Safeguards: In public case studies, names and identifying details are modified where requested to protect personal privacy and dignity.

5. Psychological Support Scope & Medical Disclaimer

Crucial Distinction: KCG Trust provides community-based empathetic listening, stress reduction education, youth guidance, and referral assistance. We do not provide clinical psychiatric diagnosis, psychiatric medication prescription, or in-patient psychiatric facilities. For acute psychiatric crises, individuals are directed to certified district hospitals or national 24/7 tele-counselling services like Tele-MANAS (14416).
